Permanent Injury Case:?

I was involved in an accident about a year ago tripped and fell down the steps in a Law Office. This occurred because there was a phone line tapped across the platform before you go down that first step. I was their tech support (contractor 2’x a week for 4 months at average of 2 hours per day in different site location with the law firm) at the time and was carrying a PC from the second floor to the first. I rarely used this path and on that day, tripped and stumbled down the steps (10-15 count… can’t really remember but around those). Laid there for about 30-45 seconds before I got up… Got scared because of the PC shattered and I made a big hole on the wall. I went to the emergency room that day and they did X-Rays… Still having issues and they did and MRI which they have found permanent injury. (Neck/constant, Shoulder/occasion, Lower Back/occasion), I’m in constant pain (sometimes can’t even get out of bed and rarely have a good night sleep) and did physical therapy twice and hoping this will get better with time but with no luck. I/m finding out those things I used to do and enjoy are no longer the same. I’m currently going on pain management and taking some prescription medication. What really bugs the heck out me is that after I fell, the law firm did not move the obstacle that causes me to fall but instead tape it several times more.(Incident happened on a Friday and was still there Monday) I found this out from a co-worker of mine which I instruct to take a photo. I have talked to local attorneys in my town and they are willing and happy to take my case until they find out who I’m trying to sue and they act like I’m deceased or sometime… They suggest that I talk to the lawfirn where I had my accident and work with them about compensation… Is this a good idea? I taught attorneys will help you out regardless but if it’s one of their own, you’re out of luck. I don’t know if they are in the same club/group or oath never to go against each other or something…. Of course where I fell from is a powerful attorney in my town. It seems like I have been blackballed. I was supposed to join the military by the end of the year then the FBI but that seems to be unlikely… (Due to the physical activities involved) I’m also getting my degree in Computer Science has become challenging now and also for the future sitting in front of a computer desk. What should I do? How much is it worth? It is worth all the hassle and red tape? Any suggestions comments or concerns are greatly appreciated. Thanks.
